Maybe You've heard the term Gospel or Good News.

At the Union Church, we believe that anyone(!), no matter how rich or poor, good or evil, can be forgiven and have a relationship with the Creator.  This is because the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross to take the payment for each person's disobedience to God (sin) and offers in exchange His good standing (righteousness).  This right standing with God allows us to come into His presence (through things like prayer) in time, and live with Him eternally when our natural life ends.

The Word of God says in Romans 6:23 that "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ Our Lord."

Eternal life is a free gift of God.  It is not something you can earn (He loved us when we were at our worst.) 

Romans also says in chapter 10:8-12

"...the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him."
